Using the MEMS System

The MEMS adherence hardware LCD display will go to sleep and the LCD screen will go blank if the hardware is not used for more than 1 week. As soon as the MEMS adherence hardware is used again, the display will automatically turn on.

If the LCD does not turn on again, please click here and write a brief description of your problem. Ideally indicate the MEMS adherence hardware serial number. A member of our staff will respond as soon as possible.

  • Hardware:
  • Log in:
    • Each clinical site team will receive a personal login for the MEMS adherence software in order to access the adherence data.
  • Installation:
    • Each clinical site must install the software “Electron reader” in order to read and upload the data from the MEMS adherence hardware. Administrator rights will be required for this installation,

If you need support for any of these items click here and write a brief description of your problem. A member of our staff will respond as soon as possible.

AARDEX is ISO certified, compatible with the HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act), FDA 21 CFR-Part 11 compliant, and regularly audited by pharmaceutical companies. No, the MEMS adherence hardware reading can be postponed to the next patient’s visit. The data are not lost if the reading is postponed. MEMS adherence hardware should only be replaced if they are broken or definitely lost.

MEMS adherence hardware:

  • Yes, an LCD display version is available that allows easy visualization of the patients’ medication behavior. This LCD shows the number of medication intakes during the current day. It also shows the time elapsed since the last dose. Those functionalities allow the patients to monitor their progress and develop the habit of taking the medication without the intrusiveness of a reminder alarm.

MEMS adherence software:

  • Yes, customizable reminders can be set up depending on the study settings and regulatory requirements. Reminders can be done via the MEMS mobile app, by SMS or by a study support team using MEMS® adherence software reports.

The MEMS adherence hardware are self-sufficient for at least 36 months without any recharging. They are the only professional solution with a lifetime of at least 36 months. This means that the patients do not have to recharge their adherence monitors.

Yes, AARDEX Group manufactures MEMS adherence hardware which can be read as frequently as needed using a dedicated NFC smartphone or tablet. Smart packages collect dosing history data in real-time, i.e. each opening/closing of the package is thus automatically recorded in real-time.
